Dickens On The Strand

Christmas Time means traditions, and one here in the Houston Area is the Dickens on The Strand Festival by the Galveston Historical Foundation, right in the Victorian Historical Landmark District.

Started in 1973 , the festival is build around the time of Charles Dickens and so, with all Victorian graceful style, has the families’ descendant of Dickens as guest.

For the three Days of the event there is a full Schedule, filled with Entertainment: Carolers, Juggler .. and a Petting Zoo.

There is a variety of food, not only the Main Streets gourmet shops and bars, but at booth.

Highlight is the the Queen’s parade, featuring Queen Victoria, a hard choice for me on the choice of my captures that go in here:

Visiting the third Year with all beauty of costumes in the setting of The Strand I can say it is ideal for getting into the spirit of Christmas.

  3. Ms. Sainturi,

I want to thank you for posting the image of the boy with the musket in your “Dickens on the Strand” series! The subjects are in fact my 11-year-old son and myself. It is a great picture!
